Happy December! December is a great month and has so much to celebrate. This month’s intention is awareness, and it’s also the theme of the first week. There’s so much going on that it’s easy to forget to be aware. Let’s put self-awareness first, and remember to be present, be here, be you.

With that in mind, I love this quote:

“Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things, they are transformed.” ―Thich Nhat Hanh

The power of transformation comes with light, it's the power to repel darkness and transform that which was in shadow into the light. That is the power of awareness and once you are aware, with your breath, your voice, textures, and sounds, you’re aware of living your own truth.

One of my most potent methods to becoming more aware is coming back to your breath. Eyes open, eyes closed, it doesn’t matter. You can just take a deep inhale. Try it right now. Then take a deep exhale.  Just in these few seconds, we’re no where else- we’re not noticing the noise, we’re not noticing our thoughts, we’re just in our body and in our breath, and that’s really powerful.

Amethyst is one of my favorite stones. We have it as a power stone on our Rasa Living site. We also have it in a beautiful mala. You can wear it as a necklace or around your wrist as a bracelet.

Amethyst is a great all-around clarifier and an incredibly potent amplifier. It has a magic way of doing two things- absorbing what might be negative and amplifying what is positive. I want to learn from an amethyst; we can all learn from an amethyst. It also has the power to connect us to the higher planes.

The darker amethyst sometimes comes from Uruguay, and we also have a lot that comes from Brazil, which tends to be their home. You’ll see it sometimes as a geode, which means it goes in, and we see it sort of looking like a feminine force.
